About
Urban Monastery

In the parable of the Sower, Jesus warns that the seed of faith can easily wither or be choked out by the worries of this life. In our cultural moment, these challenges feel even more acute. Constant noise, endless hurry and ubiquitous technology can erode our lives and make it almost impossible to encounter God. “It is not that we have anything against God, depth, and spirit… It is just that we are habitually too preoccupied to have any of these show up on our radar screens.” (Rolheiser)
The Urban Monastery is an invitation into a new way of seeing, hearing and being in relation to God. Despite being a dispersed community, we agree to follow some common spiritual practices, have regular contact with each other, and gather every 6 to 8 weeks to reflect on our experience. The Urban Monastery is not intended to supplant existing groups; rather, it is an invitation to pay more careful attention to God through weekly and monthly rhythms.
Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God.
