PRACTICE

Suggestions for ways you can practice living out the ideas and themes of the series.

  • CREATION:

    • Get out into nature, away from traffic noises and other distractions. Nose Hill is a great in-town location if getting to the mountains is difficult

    • Take a walk or sit among the trees or in the middle of a field and listen

    • What do you hear and see?

    • What is going on around you?

    • How is what you are hearing an expression of praise to the Creator?

    • Read “The Summer Day” by Mary Oliver

  • FORGIVENESS:

    • Immerse yourself in a forgiveness story

    • Journey deeply with others who value forgiveness

    • Practice forgiving small things

    • Pray

  • COMPASSION: Meet someone for coffee and listen to their story

  • RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD:

    • Download the PDF for this week's spiritual practice.

    • Experiment with this practice. Commit to trying it for a week. Or just try it once or twice. Most of these practices allow considerable room to be modified to fit your life space and personality.

    • Where possible, connect a spiritual practice with an activity you are already doing. For example, read the Bible when you have your morning coffee; pray the Psalms during your morning commute.

    • Consider how this practice helps you pay attention to your primary relationships.

    • Talk to a friend about your experience.
