Memory Verses for Year Three (2011)
WEEK 1: May 15
Luke 9:23
Then he said to them all: “Whoever
wants to be my disciple must deny themselves
and take up their cross daily and
follow me.”
WEEK 2: May 22
John 15:8
“This is to my Father’s glory, that
you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to
be my
disciples.”
WEEK 3: May 29
Colossians 3:23
Whatever you do, work at it with all
your heart, as working for the Lord, not for
men.
WEEK 4: June 5
Grades 1-3 Option
James 1:22 Do not merely
listen to the Word, and so deceive
yourselves. Do what
it says.
Grades 4-6 Option
James 1:22 Do
not merely listen to the word, and so
deceive yourselves. Do what
it says. 23 Anyone
who listens to the word but does not do what
it says is like
someone who looks at his face in a
mirror24 and,
after looking at himself, goes away
and immediately forgets what he looks
like. 25 But
whoever looks intently into the
perfect law that gives freedom, and
continues in it—not forgetting what they
have
heard, but doing it—they will be
blessed in what they do.
WEEK 5: June 12
1 John 2:6
Whoever claims to live in him must
walk as Jesus did.
WEEK 6: June 19
Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love,
joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, 23gentleness
and self-control. Against such things there
is no law.
Memory Contest Year 2 (2010)
John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that he
gave his one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but
have eternal life.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (grades 1-2
learn verses 4-5)
4 ”Love is patient, love is kind. It
does not envy, it does not boast, it is not
proud.
5 It is not rude, it is not
self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it
keeps no record of
wrongs. 6Love does not delight in
evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It
always
protects, always trusts, always
hopes, always perseveres.”
Matthew 22:37-39
37" 'Love the Lord your God with
all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your
mind.' 38 This is the first and
greatest commandment. 39 And the second is
like it:
'Love your neighbour as yourself.'”
Micah 6:8
8 He has showed you, O man, what
is good.
And what does the LORD require of
you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
Galatians 5:13b-14 (grades 1-2 –
Verse 14)
…serve one another in love. 14The
entire law is summed up in a single command:
"Love your neighbour as yourself.”
John 13:34-35
34"A new command I give you: Love one
another. As I have loved you, so you must
love one another. 35By this all men
will know that you are my disciples, if you
love
one another."
Matthew 22:37-40 (grades 1-2 – Verse
40)
37"Then the righteous will answer
him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and
feed
you, or thirsty and give you
something to drink? 38When did we see you a
stranger
and invite you in, or needing clothes
and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick
or in prison and go to visit you?'
40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the
truth,
whatever you did for one of the least
of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
Memory Verses for Year 1 (2009)
Romans
3:23
For all have sinned and fall short of
the glory of God.
Romans 6:23
The wages of sin is death, but the gift of
God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our
Lord.
Romans 5:8
God demonstrates His own love for us
in this; while we were still sinners Christ
died
for us.
Romans 10:9
If you confess with your mouth that
Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart
that
God raised Him from the dead, you
will be saved.
Romans 5:1
Therefore, since we have been
justified through faith, we have peace with
God
through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 8:38-39
For I am convinced that neither death
nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither
the present nor the future, nor any
powers, neither height nor depth, nor
anything
else in all creation, will be able to
separate us from the love of God that is in
Christ
Jesus our Lord.

MEMORIZING FOR LIFE
FOR ADULTS!
Learning for Life! From now
until June 26, we are inviting adults to engage in the
Spiritual
Discipline of Scripture memory. Perhaps you haven‘t
memorized Scripture for years (or ever).
Don‘t think it‘s too late.
You are encouraged to
take the verse card each week, put it where you will
regularly see it (on your dash board, on your desk, by
the kitchen sink!) and say it over and over till you
know it by heart. Then, come say it before church each
Sunday (as a way of being accountable). Please
prayerfully consider doing this. It‘s good for your
soul!!!
Sunday, May 15
Luke 9:23-24 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my
disciple must
deny themselves and take up their cross daily and
follow me.
24 For
whoever
wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever
loses their life for me will save
it.”
Sunday May 22
John 15:8 - “This is to my Father’s glory, that
you bear much fruit, showing
yourselves to be my disciples.
Sunday May 29
Colossians 3:12-14
12 Therefore,
as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly
loved,
clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility,
gentleness and
patience. 13 Bear
with each other and forgive one another if
any of you has a
grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave
you. 14 And
over all
these virtues put on love, which binds them all
together in perfect unity.
Sunday June 5
Option 1 James 1:22
Do not merely listen to the Word, and so
deceive yourselves.
Do what it says.
Option 2 James 1:22-25
22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so
deceive yourselves. Do what it
says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but
does not do what it says is like
someone who looks at his face in a mirror24 and,
after looking at himself, goes
away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But
whoever looks intently
into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues
in it—not forgetting what
they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in
what they do.
Sunday June 12
1 John 2:5-6
5 But
if anyone obeys his word, love for God is
truly made complete
in them. This is how we know we are in him: 6 Whoever
claims to live in him
must live as Jesus did.
Sunday June 19
Galatians 5:22-23
22 But
the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness
and self-control. Against such
things there is no law.
