The Ranch often hosts small and large American teams that come down to work
on the facility and other projects around the valley like house building,
prison ministry and feeding programs. The time is passing by quickly. We are
settling in and the Ranch is starting to feel like home. We are slowly
getting into a routine keeping Shalayna, Stephanie and Mikaela organized
with the Alberta online homeschooling program which has been challenging!!!
Tim and I, being the mean parents that
we are, eliminated TV from their life this year, and they are playing the
old fashioned way-making things out of wood, bamboo sticks, baking more,
finding creative ways to entertain themselves. Tether ball is becoming a
favourite game There are lots of things that keep us busy during the day
and we are getting a bit more familiar with the language, the culture and
the way of life in Mexico. I am learning to slow down!!
We have been so thankful for the many donations of supplies for the school
earlier in the year. Our classrooms are wonderful. The 3 teachers are
fantastic and have a real heart for children. The children absolutely love
it! They really look forward to the hot breakfast and lunch every day. We
have been able to provide hoodies, back packs, blankets, coil notebooks and
socks and shoes, all through donations.

The curriculum looks
fantastic-including grades 1 through 6. The Conofe program educates
impoverished children in areas where families cannot afford to go to public
schools. They will supply the paper work for children so that eventually
children can transition back in to the public system with the required
documents and grade level expectations.
My girls are developing friendships with each child and despite the language
barrier, the love language is universal. It is a beautiful thing. This is
all new for us, so we are taking one day at a time and praying that God’s
Plan is unfolding. Tim and I are involved in starting a Child Sponsorship
Program which invites individuals to sponsor a child in the school.
Tim is busy on the grounds and
involved in lots of communication with teams for work projects and is the
Principal of the school. I run around helping in the kitchen, the classroom,
and with the hospitality.
The poverty that engulfs the village of Ojos Negros where they live is hard
to see. You know it is happening, but seeing it is believing it. We are
learning to love without boundaries, and we are thankful for this
opportunity to be here, especially during the Christmas Season.
Dios los bendiga,
God Bless,
