This August, teachers from Calgary and the TEARS school in the Dominican Republic worked together for the 4th year in a row.  Activities included art workshops, technology training, sorting school supplies, and taking a road trip to explore areas in the Dominican social studies curriculum.  Relationships between the teachers and the two schools were deepened, and plans made to further connect the students this year.

In February 2009, twenty-five mission team participants from Calgary visited the Maria Auxiliadora community to work alongside the TEARS School, TEARS Ministry and the El Camino Church team. The focus of the mission trip was on children’s camps for children attending the TEARS School.

Location is near the middle top, La Vega and Puerto Plata.

Varsity Bible Church has been sending teams to Maria Auxilliadora since 2003. In total about 60 people from this church of 170 members and adherents have visited the project area. During this time close working relationships have developed between the local church and school and Varsity resulting in a mutually transforming experience for both.
