YOU'RE INVITED TO
VBC's BREAKFAST AND A PRAYER WORKSHOP
Saturday March 10th from 9am to 12 noon in the East
Wing. Guest speaker is Michelle Newsham (you may
know her from her 6 years working at Kingsfold) will
present: "PRAYER: TRY IT AGAIN, FOR THE FIRST TIME".
Most of us pray more than we think. Have you ever
thought about that? Generally we think about prayer
as the words we say between "Dear God" and "Amen.”
But what if it's a whole lot more? Is it words?
actions? attitude? spaciousness? presence? desire?
Could I be praying and not really know it?
Join us for this half-day of reflection on prayer
and discover ways you might be praying that you
don't even realize! Remember to bring your note
book, your Bible, your desire, your questions, your
expectation… and explore with us the mystery and joy
of prayer. You may find yourself trying it again,
for the first time! For more info & to RSVP, contact
Carol Prowse.

COMMUNITY GROUPS - The Main Thing -
Success at Varsity Bible Church is defined by how
effectively our ministries and community groups
include people. We believe that sustained life change happens best in the context of community and
intentional relationships, which are key to
sustained spiritual growth. In a community group,
people study Gods word together and discuss the
issues and challenges of life. It is also where they
pray, care for one another and are missed if they do
not show up.
In addition to the personal ministry of the staff
and leaders of our church, community groups assist
us in ministering effectively at VBC. There
are area groups, young married groups, service
focused groups, senior groups, singles groups and
cross generational groups. Community groups meet
weekly or bi-weekly. To find out more
about community groups, we encourage you to contact
Allen Fuller.
We are committed to helping every member of VBC
experience a growing intimacy with God, in an
environment of genuine loving relationships.
So,
you‘ve been thinking about joining a Small Group at
Varsity. Great, but why? At Varsity Bible
Church‘s retreat last January, we spent a lot of time
discussing vision both for VBC and for Small Groups. When asked about their vision for Small Groups, most
people said they were most interested in community,
spiritual growth and accountability. We all need
community, acceptance and a place to belong.
This is what Small Groups do best! Like-minded
believers who are there to support and encourage one
another in their walk with Jesus. If this sounds
good and you‘re interested in joining a Small Group
contact me, Allen Fuller directly at fullerap@telus.net
or you can always catch him Sunday during coffee. Watch for more
details.
PAULS’
MISSION TRIP TO MEXICO: Tim, Hannah, Shalayna,
Stephanie, & Mikaela have headed down to Ensenada
Mexico on October 1st for the school year to help a
new school that has been built for underprivileged
children in the village of Ojo Negros. They are
looking for cash donations for specific needs that
arise once they are down there. If you can help out,
or want to contact them: timandhannahpauls@gmail.com
or find them on
www.hopeforthenations.com under the
project name Mexico - Ensenada, Puenta de Vida
School. Many thanks.
Varsity
Gathering Places Committee
Last year, the youth and some church members worked hard to make tiles for
one panel of a 3 sided sculpture that was placed in
the park adjacent to the church. The artist,
Tracy Franks, later assembled and erected the
sculpture.
This sculpture is part of a bigger project in
Varsity, where the Artists worked with the Varsity
Schools: Marion Carson, F. E. Osborne, St Vincents
and Varsity Acres to make the tiles for the other
sculptures.
5 years ago Varsity Bible Church donated proceeds
from their garage sale that contributed to this
project.
